Mass. schools seek to overcome challenges at breakfast time

School nutrition professionals in some Massachusetts districts have tried various ways to encourage greater participation in breakfast programs, including serving meals in classrooms and on breakfast carts. However, as the state launches a new initiative -- offering grants to districts to invest in breakfast promotions and programs -- foodservice directors say a lack of time in the morning, insufficient staff and other obstacles are hindering progress.
