Ohio nurse says volunteer EMT work led to nursing career

Metro Life Flight chief flight nurse Deanna Dague-Harris says being a volunteer emergency medical technician/firefighter gave her a look at emergency medicine and started her on a career in nursing. She says the best advice she got was from Elaine Nichols of the School of Nursing at the University of Akron in Ohio, who guided her toward nursing school and getting a bachelor's degree.
