Private market offers states another route for Medicaid expansion

Arkansas wants to use Medicaid money to buy privately run managed care plans for enrollees as part of expanding the program under the Affordable Care Act, and other states may follow suit. The program could give enrollees more stability, thus offsetting additional costs, says Sara Rosenbaum, a Medicaid expert at George Washington University.
