Smart grid firm Silver Spring Networks to go public this week

Silver Spring Networks, a provider of hardware and software designed to enable utilities to leverage the power of the smart grid, could net as much as $66.6 million on Wednesday when it becomes the second tech firm this year to go public. The California-based company -- which counts PG&E Corp. and Pepco Holdings among its customers -- first filed for an IPO in July 2011.
