Green Dot agrees to buy Loopt for $43.4 million

Loopt, a startup that evolved from a friend finder to a deal locator, has agreed to be acquired by Green Dot, an issuer of prepaid money cards. Loopt chief Sam Altman said the $43.4 million deal will lead to the development of "transformative" location-based financial services for smartphones.
