Southern Co. exec touts company's role in nuclear energy's future

The construction of two new reactors at Southern Co.'s Plant Vogtle project is in full swing as the world commemorates the first-year anniversary of the Fukushima Daiichi incident in Japan. "We see our role now as showing true leadership for this technology, for promoting diversity of supply, for taking a long-term view of energy supply and assuring a proper portfolio mix," said Stephen Kuczynski, chairman, president and CEO of Southern Nuclear.
