Device can track home energy consumption in real time

A company called Y Shape has developed Heat Meter, a Wi-Fi connected device that it says can track a home's energy consumption in real time. The device, which is attached magnetically to a boiler or furnace, listens to vibrations in order to calculate the amount of energy being spent. In addition to measuring a home's energy cost, the device "provides useful insight to lowering your energy consumption," said Y Shape engineer Radu Gogoana.
