FirstNet board considers broadband service rate structure

FirstNet board members said public safety agencies subscribing to its broadband service should pay competitive monthly rates in line with those of commercial services. Board member Jeff Johnson did not commit to lower rates and said first responder agencies may be willing to pay a little more because the broadband network is being designed for them. "We know that our entry point into this market has got to be at or below what they're currently paying for service because there isn't a mandate that people buy the FirstNet services," Johnson said.
