Independent auto shops say they need right to repair law

Independent auto-repair shops in Florida say that they lose business when dealerships refuse to sell certain parts for repairs. "We have the equipment and the technology and the software to install the part and make it work correctly, they won't sell us the part," said Ted Speltz, owner of Tampa-area Advanced Auto Repair. "We are working with the trade groups representing both the domestic and foreign nameplate vehicle manufacturers to develop a national agreement based on the Massachusetts legislation," said Aaron Lowe of the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association.
