Same sign rule, different interpretations

Both the city of Gainesville, Fla., and unincorporated Alachua County, Fla., have rules banning portable signs, but only the county interprets the prohibition to include signs held by wavers. Precious Metal Group has filed a lawsuit against the county, saying its enforcement of the rule led to the closure of its “We Buy Gold” store, which lost significant business after the sign wavers were ordered to be stopped.
