Small-fiber polyneuropathy linked to early-onset chronic pain

U.S. researchers assessed 41 patients with unexplained widespread pain that started before age 21 and found that 24 of them met the diagnosis for small-fiber polyneuropathy, while 16 of the remaining 17 were said to possibly or probably have SFPN. The report in Pediatrics also found that 82% of patients had reduced sweat production, considered a sensitive diagnostic test for SFPN.
