Study: PTSD patients show higher metabolic syndrome rates

Data on 207,954 VA patients showed those with post-traumatic stress disorder had greater incidence of insulin resistance and metabolic syndrome compared with those who did not have a PTSD diagnosis. "This is a disorder that needs to be looked at and treated as a public health problem," said Dr. Ramin Ebrahimi, who discussed the findings at the American College of Cardiology meeting.
