What should students know to become financially literate?

The Council for Economic Education has developed a set of standards for financial literacy, expected to be released next month. The standards, crafted in collaboration with educators, detail what the council says students should know by the end of fourth, eighth and 12th grades about income, buying goods and services, saving, credit, investing and protecting and insuring. "We have a specific plan to go state by state and get these implemented," council CEO Nan Morrison said.
