Firefighter cadets learn safety during simulated fire, rescue

A live training session held recently at the West Manatee Fire Rescue Citizen Fire Academy in Florida stressed safety as 9-1-1 dispatchers sent cadets to a simulated multiunit residential fire that included a trapped victim, an injured firefighter and vehicle extrication. West Manatee Fire Chief Andy Price taught cadets about the dangers of running at a fire scene, rules for rapid intervention teams and the "15-minute mark" for accounting for fire crews.
