Class I's share insights on PTC ahead of 2015 deadline

Officers-in-charge of positive train control implementation at the Class I's agree on one topic: meeting the 2015 deadline is not feasible due to "significant technical and programmatic issues" as cited by the Federal Railroad Administration, writes Jeff Stagl. Meanwhile, representatives of several Class I's, Amtrak and Alaska Railroad spoke on behalf of the Association of American Railroads about the progress of PTC implementation during a recent forum of the National Transportation Safety Board.
