With crude-by-rail, jobs growing rapidly

Since the end of 2009, freight railroads have increased their payrolls by 9.1%, in large part because of the demand to ship petroleum products by rail. Rail shipping of crude oil soared 256% in 2012, according to AAR. "It's having a ripple effect that’s really creating jobs and wealth and investment opportunities," said Charles Clowdis, managing director for transportation advisory services at IHS Global Insight.
