Republican and Democratic budget plans remain highly different

U.S. budgets proposed by Republican and Democratic leaders have little in common, despite President Barack Obama's call for a broad deal. The austere House Republican proposal is similar to one passed last year that Senate Democrats promptly rejected. Senate Democrats introduced a proposal that wouldn't balance the budget anytime soon.
