Premiums rising for some along South Carolina coast

Ten South Carolina insurers have increased their homeowners insurance rates recently, compared with 21 that have lowered them, but those figures paint an incomplete picture, according to the state Insurance Department. The S.C. Wind and Hail Underwriting Association will raise rates 4.3% on June 1, and other insurers are bumping coastal premiums while lowering rates elsewhere.
