Boeing to perform 20 tests on 787 batteries

Driving a nail through lithium-ion batteries is a standard test for short circuits, but Boeing needs to do more sophisticated testing for its 787 batteries, experts say. Boeing will begin implementing 20 types of extensive tests to determine if its proposed new battery protection system works.
