Vogtle facility expansion begins concrete pouring

The foundation of Southern Co.'s new reactor at its Plant Vogtle facility in Georgia has begun being poured, the company said. The pour of specially designed basemat concrete began Tuesday and will take about 50 hours to complete. The expansion project at South Carolina Electric & Gas' V.C. Summer plant completed its concrete pouring just three days earlier.
