Southern European companies rush to issue corporate bonds

Companies in southern Europe are rushing to tap corporate-bond markets but are paying high prices because of Greece's debt woes. "The recent Greek bond issue has helped the market recover and sentiment has improved, allowing this to be the biggest week for southern European corporate issuance this year," said Wayne Hiley, head of European corporate syndicate at Barclays Capital.
