Developer eyes Va. landfill as potential site for wind farm

Apex Wind Energy is studying the feasibility of building a wind farm at the Augusta Regional Landfill in Augusta County, Va. As part of the company's study, researchers from James Madison University have set up a meteorological tower near the landfill's highest point to monitor wind resources in the area. "We're trying to determine whether or not we do have enough wind that would sustain a project long term," said Dennis Burnett, Augusta County's economic-development director.
