Juniper: Telematics are becoming the new normal for car industry

Internet access will soon be as ubiquitous in new cars as an AM/FM radio, according to Juniper Research, which predicts there will be more than 92 million connected vehicles traveling the world's highways by 2016. The research firm -- which studied automotive-telematics trends around the world -- said the growth will be largely driven by factory-standard infotainment systems, such as Ford's Sync AppLink or BMW's ConnectedDrive, and platforms that enable drivers to integrate their smartphones with their cars.
