Medicaid allocates new funding for emergency psychiatric care

Medicaid officials last week announced a pilot program to provide reimbursement for emergency psychiatric care at private hospitals for residents of 11 states and Washington, D.C. "This new demonstration will help ensure patients receive appropriate, high quality care when they need it most and save states money," said Marilyn Tavenner, acting administrator of the CMS.
