House lawmakers seek approval of TBHA with Mexico

Lawmakers on the House Foreign Affairs Western Hemisphere Subcommittee made their case for the implementation of the Trans-Border Hydrocarbons Agreement with Mexico as part of efforts to achieve energy security and independence in North America. The pact would also encourage joint Gulf of Mexico development ventures between smaller U.S. firms and Mexico's Pemex, said Kyle Isakower, vice-president for regulatory and economic policy at the American Petroleum Institute. "This agreement will provide legal certainty to U.S. [independents], which will encourage investment in new energy development, creating jobs and spurring economic growth," Isakower said.
