USDA places priority on curbing childhood obesity, Vilsack says

Preventing childhood obesity, educating youth about proper nutrition and connecting them to needed resources are key goals of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, department Secretary Tom Vilsack said during a recent appearance in Maine to mark School Nutrition Month. He said he chose to stop in Portland because of the city's successful lunch programs and farm-to-school initiative.
