Android apps catching on with users, developers

Open-source developers had written more projects for the Android operating system than any other platform, passing Apple's iPhone at the end of 2009, according to a study from Black Duck Software. There are also signs that Android is catching on among users: Google said the number of applications in its Android Market had doubled in three months, reaching an official figure of 30,000 -- a mix of free and paid apps.
