UP makes executive changes

Union Pacific promoted several key officials as a result of CEO, President and Chairman James Young's medical leave. The Class I appointed Eric Butler as executive vice president of marketing and sales to replace Jack Koraleski, who is now the interim president and CEO. Bradley Thrasher will succeed in Butler's position, while Kate Betsworth assumes Thrasher's post. UP’s board also named Gayla Thal senior vice president-law and general counsel to succeed J. Michael Hemmer, who will retire later this year. Michael Whitcomb will succeed Thal as vice president-law and chief compliance officer.
