Power plants invest in future pollution control technology to comply with EPA regulations

In compliance with new federal government regulations to control emissions from coal-fired power plants, American Electric Power is among companies investing in pollution control equipment. The utility expects to spend $5.2 billion to meet EPA regulations by 2018 and some companies are looking ahead by investing in equipment for which technology is still under development.
