Sens. Tom Harkin, D-Iowa, and Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, said they will oppose a House measure sponsored by Rep. Steve Womack, R-Ark, that seeks to eliminate the ethanol blender's tax credit. "Domestic production of biofuels, especially ethanol, has been one of our most successful strategies for reducing that oil dependence," Harkin said. "Opportunistic" food producers are using U.S. ethanol production as a scapegoat for pushing up prices, Grassley said.
