Iowa is looking at more than 80 compounding pharmacies

The Iowa Board of Pharmacy began inspecting more than 80 U.S. compounding pharmacies that conduct business in the state. The move is the latest in a series of inspection efforts following a fungal meningitis outbreak that was tied to contaminated steroid injections manufactured by a compounding pharmacy in Framingham, Mass. The board intends to inspect 582 pharmacies that hold Iowa licenses.
