Line would bridge the messaging/social app gap

NHN Japan Corporation wants to erase the line that exists between messaging and social communications with its Line application, U.S. CEO Jeanie Han says. "It's sort of like social media but it's not too open. It's just enough for people to feel comfortable," Han explains. Though the application typically uses cartoon stickers in place of emoticons, the developer is "localising its sticker content by market and even by user community," including licensed U.S. cartoon characters, Natasha Lomas writes.
