Study yields positive results for breast cancer imaging agent

NuView Life Sciences' PET imaging agent for breast cancer, NLS-VPAC1, was able to detect 100% of malignant lesions and sentinel lymph nodes, according to findings presented at an international conference. Because of the agent's rapid uptake in tumors, the company is also investigating its use when labeled with the isotope gallium-68, which can be manufactured at local radiopharmacies. The agent may allow for noninvasive diagnosis of malignancies in the breast and other tissues, a researcher said.
