Ethics are key to a robotic future

Advances in robotics mean that machines will increasingly be called upon to care for the elderly and perform other vital functions in society. One necessary consideration moving forward is the development of an ethical standards for robots that will be key to preserving our humanity, researchers say. This may even extend to including emotions to guide changes in behavior so robots can adjust appropriately to new and unfamiliar situations.
