Propane heat gains traction in Maine as crude oil prices climb

The use of propane instead of oil for home-heating is gaining traction in Maine as the price of crude oil increases and natural gas distribution in the state remains limited. Maine Energy Marketers Association President Jamie Py said "propane has been the growth market" for the association's members. Propane Gas Association of New England President Joe Rose added that the organization is "starting to see the first separation of propane and crude oil prices" and the trend is expected to continue.
