BPA perception is influenced by media treatment

The perception that bisphenol A is a harmful chemical stems from how news reports can sensationalize inconclusive reports and findings about the substance, writes author Paul Alexander. "Based on the science, regulators have repeatedly declared BPA to be safe," said Steve Hentges of the American Chemistry Council. "Until spin is removed from the coverage, it will be impossible for agencies like the Food and Drug Administration to make a final, informed decision on BPA," Alexander writes.
