CEO discusses economic impacts on CKE franchises

CKE franchises are located in 42 states and 27 foreign countries, and raked in $3.8 billion last year. CEO Andy Puzder notes, despite franchise success, economic factors such as the increase in payroll taxes, high gas prices and general pessimism are keeping consumers from spending and he said new health care legislation could lead to a possible increase in prices and part-time hiring. "We're doing what we can to keep the costs in line and we don't want to raise prices," he said. "But certainly price increases are on the table for everybody."
