EPA asked to continue analyzing refineries rule

The Environmental Protection Agency will conduct additional research into proposed revisions to air pollution regulations for refineries, the agency said. The proposal had been submitted to the White House Office of Management and Budget in September 2012 and was returned to EPA last week. However, the oil and natural gas industry doesn't feel new rules are needed. "Imposition of additional regulation of refinery emissions on top of the layers of regulations already imposed on the refinery sector is unnecessary," said Howard Feldman, director of regulatory and scientific policy for the American Petroleum Institute.
