Republican National Committee Chair Reince Priebus this week said Republican Ohio Sen. Rob Portman's change of heart on legal marriage for same-sex couples in no way affects his standing with the party. "If that's his opinion, then I support him having that opinion," Priebus said. Portman last week said he dropped his opposition to marriage equality in part because his son came out to him as gay. Meanwhile House Speaker John Boehner, also of Ohio, said he "can't imagine" changing his own opposition to marriage equality.
