John Malone's Liberty Media to buy Charter stake, sources say

John Malone's Liberty Media reportedly is in final talks to acquire 27% of Charter Communications. The investment in Charter would mark Malone's re-entry into the U.S. cable sector after selling Tele-Communications to AT&T for $48 billion in 1999. Liberty reportedly will acquire the holdings from Apollo Global Management, Oaktree Capital Management and other private-equity firms.
