Study: Olive oil is more satisfying than butter, canola, lard

Olive oil was more effective than butter, lard or canola oil in producing a sense of fullness after eating, according to a study. "The olive oil group showed a higher concentration of the satiety hormone serotonin in their blood," said the study's leader, Peter Schieberle. The aroma of olive oil also was effective in making study participants feel fuller, researchers found.
