Wendy's knocks Burger King out of the No. 2 spot

Wendy's edged out Burger King to become the second-largest U.S. burger chain based on 2011 sales, according to data from Technomic. With $8.5 billion and $8.4 billion in sales respectively, both chains trailed first-place McDonald's, which booked $34.2 billion last year. The report, which ranked restaurant chains in a variety of segments, also revealed that Five Guys Burgers and Fries was the fastest-growing chain in 2011.
