Get ready for more Katrinas, climate scientists say

For each degree Celsius that the global temperature increases, America's Eastern Seaboard will be hit by two to seven times more Katrina-sized hurricanes, researchers estimate. Predicting superstorms is an inexact science, but studies suggest that the warming planet will also mean bigger, stronger storms. "There is a sensitivity to warming, and it is surprisingly large," says climatologist Aslak Grinsted.
