Study: Dermatologists catch cellulitis misdiagnoses

Dermatology consultations at academic medical centers identified cases of cellulitis misdiagnoses, correctly identifying the patients' skin conditions and saving costly unneeded treatment, a study of more than 1,400 inpatient dermatology consultations found. About a third of the misdiagnosed patients had stasis dermatitis, 14% had contact dermatitis and 9% had inflammatory tinea.
