Xcel issues request for proposals for wind projects in Colo.

Xcel Energy's Public Service Co. of Colorado has issued an all-source generation solicitation that includes a request for proposals for wind and other renewable projects. The firm needs to generate about 250 megawatts more of capacity from 2012 to 2018 to supply the state's summer peak load and have a 16.3% planning reserve. "We greatly appreciate the fact that, in our effort to secure additional wind energy that is economic for our customers, the [Colorado Public Utilities Commission] has given us a chance to pursue wind generation on a fast track," PSCo CEO and President David Eves said in a statement.
