Dr. Kenneth Rosenfield, head of Vascular Medicine and Intervention at Massachusetts General Hospital, also responded: "If one renegade society decides they're going to write their own guidelines, despite having signed off on [multisociety guidelines] and [negotiating] everyone else off their position and closer to theirs, then that undermines a very important and fundamental process that is critical to our ability to send a clear message to the medical community."
