"Chameleon" botnet is behind click fraud, ad-analytics firm says

A botnet dubbed "Chameleon" has infected about 120,000 home computers in the U.S. and is generating bogus clicks on about 200 websites, according to Spider.io, an advertising analytics firm in the U.K. The company estimates the purported fraud costs advertisers up to $6 million a month. "All the bot browsers report themselves as being Internet Explorer 9.0 running on Windows 7," Spider.io said in a blog post.
