PCMA: Reducing independent drugstore accountability increases costs

Independent drugstores are continuing to lobby states and Congress for legislation limiting payers' ability to detect fraud, waste and abuse. This campaign would raise health care costs for consumers and payers, says Pharmaceutical Care Management Association President and CEO Mark Merritt. A recent HHS Office of Inspector General audit found high rates of questionable billing at independent drugstores.
