Producers overlook female directors for superhero films

A number of recent high-budget superhero films have been put in the hands of relatively untested male directors such as Bryan Singer and Joe Johnson, but barely any have gone to talented women directors, Monika Bartyzel writes. Patty Jenkins, who directed the Oscar-winning film "Monster," was slated to helm "Thor 2," but Marvel took her off the project.
