Walgreen faces off with the DEA over painkiller distribution

Walgreen is appealing an order by the DEA to suspend shipments of controlled substances, such as oxycodone, from its Jupiter, Fla., distribution center in a case before the U.S. Court of Appeals in Washington, D.C., on Thursday. The DEA claims that the center, one of Walgreen's 13 nationwide, has a history of filling suspicious drug orders and is a public safety threat. In a brief, Walgreen said, "This case involves an abuse of the extraordinary power that the Drug Enforcement Administration wields over ordinary citizens and businesses."
